It's quite simple, we want our staff to 'want' to come to work and that means getting the balance right between an ability to earn high levels of commission (one of the highest in our industry) whilst at the same time being rewarded at an individual level by recognising contribution as a 'whole' rather than from a purely sales perspective.
Getting the culture 'right' has taken time and is still a work in progress (and probably always will be). however, our future lies with our staff and hence we want to attract and retain the best. Our staff therefore, are rewarded for loyalty and performance.
For instance, as part of our Performance And Loyalty Program, all staff get two extra 'doona days' on top of their normal annual leave (to be taken when you just need that little bit of extra personal time) and after just two years in the business, all staff accrue an extra three days holiday. There is also money put towards self-development training courses that do not need to be business related. The longer someone stays with us, the more extra leave they get – up to an extra 10 days holiday per year, plus a mini break funded to the value of $1500 as well as a self-development grant to the value of $1000. We invest in our staff - they are not a commodity - we want them to stay, be productive and be happy. I am proud that Beilby has a loyalty/retention record that is the envy of the industry.
We also host an annual “High Achievers Conference” in exotic locations (Singapore, Bali, Phuket anyone?) where those staff attending from all the offices get to know each other better, workshop some key issues for the business and most of all, have a whale of a time.
So, as a business, we support our staff and their aspirations. We acknowledge and push for a flexible work style where staff can work in the community (with company paid charity support days) but also in retaining the 'mums of the future' by extending maternity leave payments and offering flexible working times. Our business is nothing without our staff and that is why we will do our utmost to not only keep them, but keep them happy!
